Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, but can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, fans and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

My son told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home form, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
