President Trump Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Members to White House
Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Government Changes
Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The event prompted the government to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
