New Particulars Come to Light Concerning the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence home on Sunday.
The Discovery
A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the house, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Furthermore refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
