American performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a statement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his family.
