Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Gives New England Route to AFC East Lead - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many fans into the NFL
That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the squad's opening first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had 10 days to prepare but it was still a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the league's best running game was crucial too, with Cook and teammates registering just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the pair from Allen specifically. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - not the calm, controlled, balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have demonstrated a varied performances this season so the jury's out on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the New England are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three different 8-2 squads in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the top team?
One could find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their combined twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their primtime win in Buffalo appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was huge
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns credit for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his side to success
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year rusher Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is statistically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but face the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the schedule
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There's a considerable distance to travel but the door is open for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Showdown
Two teams with solid claims to be superior to all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who both scored 40 burgers to reach 7-2 ahead of the upcoming major game between the pair in Los Angeles
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a game
Each could realistically be without a loss as well - particularly the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning kick with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a score
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the top teams in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Berlin - running for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and contributing an additional forty-two {receiving yards
