Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
